So Paulo, 27 – The pre-candidacy of TV presenter Jos Luiz Datena in the Senate by the DEM, confirmed Wednesday morning 27, reflects the search for part of the Brazilian electorate for the names that come from outside the political system, the so-called outsiders. For the experts heard by the O Estado de S.Paulo newspaper, the candidacy can also strengthen the acronym and increase the DEM national projection.
Ricardo Caldas, professor of political science at the University of Brasília (UnB), believes that the Brazilian population is "thirsty" for new names because those in the current scenario are exhausted. "The phenomenon of foreigners is here to stay and people really want that, so Datena has a very big legacy," he says.
For Caldas, names such as Presidents Ciro Gomes (PDT), Marina Silva (Rede), Alvaro Dias (Podemos) and Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) are trying to adopt an outsider speech as they are legends less known, but are not excluded from the political system Ciro and Marina, for example, are former ministers, while Alvaro Dias, senator for the third consecutive legislature, and Bolsonaro, seven terms in the House of Representatives. deputies.
"Today, people are looking for names that are not involved in the political system, and many would like to be" zero kilogram ", but not just the issue of differentiating the speech from the practice of an outsider" he says.
Datena became a member of the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) between 1992 and 2015, when he left the legend to join the Progressive Party (PP), by Paulo Maluf. At the time, the presenter thought of fighting over the city of So Paulo, but eventually gave up. In September 2017, he joined the Progressive Republican Party (PRP) and, since April 2018, he is at the DEM.
In the middle of this month, party interlocutors said that they were evaluating the possibility of launching a presidential nomination, as revealed by the BR18 website. Inside the caption, there are also those who suggest the option of being vice in the plate of the Geraldo Alckmin toucan (PSDB).
"I propose to be a candidate in the Senate, and if I paint the possibility of being a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, I may try to help my country, I want to be candidate to help the people, "Datena told the state on June 15.
For professor and political scientist Rodrigo Prando, of Mackenzie Presbyterian University, Datena fits in the profile of the foreigner because he is strangers to the political milieu, enjoys a high visibility in the media and brandishing the flag against violence, a subject increasingly sensitive.
"His speech is combined with the feeling of helplessness of the population with so many crimes, an element that disturbs and weakens society and all the talk that is directed to it tends to be very welcome," he says.
In May, an investigation by Ibope / Band showed that the presenter had 24% of voters, behind city councilor Eduardo Suplicy (PT), with 30%.
Political projection
Prando estimates that the bid should give more projection and political robustness to Datena. "If he is elected, he will be able to develop some practical and political experience, even to think of higher flights in the future."
The political scientist also says that the candidacy can strengthen the image of the acronym at the national level. "It serves to give a plan for the party by the huge visibility and by the very obvious political gains". However, the political scientist points out that Datena has to adapt to the leadership, dynamics and institutional elements of a party. "It will be necessary to negotiate and discuss a lot to be firm in this space."
Cludio Couto, political scientist and coordinator of the Getlio Vargas Foundation's Professional Master in Public Policy and Policy, also believes that Datena's candidacy strengthens DEM. Today, the party has a bench of 43 MPs and five senators, making it an attractive ally for any legend.
"Having a competitive candidate is an important step for party building," he says. For Couto, there is nowadays in Brazil an environment of rejection, of political clbad and adapted to the candidates having an agenda focused on security, Datena case.
For Couto, the presenter can get votes from different voter profiles and his entry into politics by the Senate could be the start of a wider platform in the future.
In the badessment of Vera Chaia, a political scientist at PUC-SP, Datena leaves in front of other candidates to be known by much of the electorate and have very clear positions on issues such as Criminal age and disarmament, issues that sensitize the electorate. "He does not need a marketer because he knows what he wants and he has always talked a lot about it," he says.
For Vera, the issues raised by the DEM pre-candidate may also impact on other legends. "He can not only have an express vote but also be able to influence the other candidates," he says.
