In view of the recovery of the oil and gas market, Locar Cranes and Intermodal Transport want to develop again in Brazil. With a ship that recently operated with investments of about 140 million reais, the company intends to increase the occupation of its fleet for the next few years.
The vice president of the company, Henrique Bravo, says that the Pipes launch, named Locar Pipe, has remained motionless for five years due to the crisis in the oil and gas sector in Brazil. "Mid-2011, the Brazilian market was in full swing."
According to him, there was a need for a ferry to connect the sea pipes to the ground. "But the Petrobras market has stopped and our ship has been paralyzed since."
Bravo reports that there was a need for repair investments to bring the ferry back into service. "With the return to work of this vessel, the company's revenues are expected to increase by 10% over those projected at the beginning of the year."
The contract was awarded by Sapura Energy do Brasil, a company outsourced by Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe (Celsus) for the construction of the thermoelectric plant of Porto de Sergipe.
Expansion
The Locar executive also says that the plan is to expand Locar Pipe's operations to other countries in South America. "The ferry should stay with Celse for a few months and then return to base, waiting for new projects."
