"Unfortunately, we have to confirm the first positive case of H1N1 influenza in Lençóis Paulista and also the first death of complications due to the disease. We had other suspected cases, but we had two negative cases and we were waiting for the result of five more examinations. With this positive case, we have confirmation that this virus is circulating in our city and we must take measures to prevent the spread of the disease, "said Health Secretary Ricardo Conti.

The health secretary pointed out that the vaccine is available in all health units in the municipality and warned that the vaccine index is still low among priority audiences, especially children.

Priority groups are children from 6 months to 9 years old, teachers, health professionals, adults aged 50 to 59, people over 60, pregnant women, women recently had children.

In Bauru, where three deaths due to the disease were recorded and 12 confirmed cases, the vaccination schedule was also extended in six health units until 20 hours.
