Effective December 22, public and private health professionals across the country will be required to inform the Ministry of Health of all new cases of cancer and Conbad Malformation that meet . The mandatory notification was established by Law 13.685 / 2018, published in the Official Journal of the Union

Author of the bill that gave birth to Law 13.685 / 2018, Congress Congress Carmen Zanotto ( PPS-SC) its proposal stating that the notification of cancer cases and the registry of conbad malformations will identify bottlenecks in care, diagnosis, treatment and prevention. According to her, the novelty will still help in the effective compliance of the law that treats the beginning of the treatment of the patient with a malignant tumor up to 60 days.

It should be noted that, until then, hospitals, clinics and doctors were not required to inform the government about the cancer patients that they receive. It is therefore difficult to know the real impact of this disease in Brazil.

"We hope that mandatory notification can be a turning point in the fight against cancer in Brazil," said the parliamentarian in a note published today. "A consistent database is essential to improve the management of health resources and to provide effective services for prevention, rapid diagnosis and appropriate treatment of the disease," he added

. The philanthropic institutions supporting bad health (Femama) said that mandatory registrations can generate reliable data that allow the definition of strategies for adaptation to cancer. "It's a key to improving care planning and disease care."

The challenge will be to implement this law in practice. In other words, how to ensure that this measure is respected? And how to integrate data from hospitals and clinics in Brazil to the Ministry of Health? Let's follow the next steps.
