Emperor Akihito of Japan canceled all public appointments after being dizzy and nauseated due to a cerebral anemia, announced the Imperial House Agency. At the age of 84, Akihito intends to leave the throne on April 30, 2019, in what should become the first abdication of the royal throne in the history of Japan.
Cerebral anemia is the decrease of blood flow in the brain. for different reasons. According to the official agency, Akihito rests at the Tokyo Imperial Palace and is monitored by doctors.
The emperor has already undergone surgery on the heart and also for treatment of prostate cancer. In 2016, he even went so far as to say that he feared that age would hinder his game at the head of the throne.
His successor is Prince Naruhito, 58 years old.
