Resolution on the new rules was published in |
The National Traffic Council (Contran) approved new rules for the payment of offenses by drivers in an irregular situation. The resolution was published in the Official Journal this Friday (6)
The main change lies in the permission of the transit authorities to establish possibilities to pay debts in various forms of payment, including in using cards and in several installments.
The down payment will not be limited to a fine. It can be organized for more offenses, in installments or overall debts than the driver has with respect to his vehicle with a traffic department. When the offenses are broken down, the driver is released from ongoing cases such as vehicle licenses.
Under the new system, state transit services (Detrans) will be able to recruit businesses for new means of payment. In general, the payment of fines was done by means of tickets issued by the departments.
Operators to make interim payments should be accredited by entities of the national transit system. The owner of the card must be informed in advance of the additional fees charged by opting for this modality. These costs will be borne by the driver and not the traffic department.
National transportation system agencies that opt for this method of payment will be required to provide monthly information to the National Transportation Department (Denatran) regarding collection. If this accountability is not performed, the entity may be penalized.
