The Attorney General's Office (AGU) and the Office of the Ministry of Transparency and Comptrollership (CGU) today signed a clemency agreement with Odebrecht for misappropriation of public and federal companies. The agreement is confidential and provides for the receipt of 2.7 billion reais by the Union, which will be paid over 22 years. The amounts will be adjusted by the Selic rate and could reach R $ 6.8 billion at the end of the period, according to agencies' estimates.
The first $ 60 million of Reais was paid this week and the amount is expected to rise to $ 159 million a year by 2039.
