Proof of this is the sector, even during a recession in the country, continues to grow. According to Curitiba's sanitary surveillance data, in 2013 there were 393 pizzerias in the capital. Five years later, the number of establishments in the city increased by 44.5%, to 568.
And while the sector continues to grow, this is due largely to delivery services, since 80 % of the requests made in the establishments consulted in the report were to be delivered. "It's critical (the service) .Today, I believe that pizzerias can not survive without delivery, which is also a more practical way of selling," says Murilo Pietrochinski, owner of Pizzaria Calabria, in the district of Boqueirão
Not for nothing According to the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants (Abrasel), delivery services have been among those that have increased the most in recent years. Abrasel show that the sector has closed 2017 with revenues greater than 10 billion reais, the pizza being in the lead compared to the number of orders.
A study commissioned by Jaz requests from the Ipsos Institute for example, revealed that rounding the number of applications with sufficient time, accounting for 57% of requests.
Another study, made by iFood, pointed to a similar scenario. According to the report "Revolution Delivery", new ways ns to deliver food "have popularized pizza consumption in Brazil", with 26% of orders received on Sundays being pizzas. Between 2012 and 2017, the demand for other types of cuisine was more than 20%, but the study concluded that "to leave the pizza – the favorite of Brazil – will be difficult."
