Malala learns Rio drama with German dancers and samba

RIO – Two Teen dancers and their young teacher from the Complexo do German, in the northern area of ​​Rio, had never heard of Malala Yousafzai . And they could not imagine that they would have so much to talk about. On Thursday, the lucky ones were chosen for a long meeting that lasted from morning till night with the Pakistani peace advocate and the Nobel Peace Prize just for his 21st birthday. The tour included a dance show at Sugar Loaf, a talk show about the challenges of going to school at the risk of being a victim of violence and ending with a lunch.

Raised in Morro do Adeus, she says that the social initiative appeared spontaneously in 2012, while she was still minor. Unable to continue studying ballet at work, began to train alone in the community court. Curious, the neighborhood kids started asking him to teach them how to dance too. Without realizing it, she became an activist who was able to face great challenges, just like Malala. Today, the project already serves 47 girls between 4 and 17 years old.

Tuany was at the meeting with Malala, with four students, 11 and 12 years old: Paloma Soares, Karine Ferreira, Raíssa Rodrigues and Ana Caroline Tomás de Oliveira. The day was a great emotion for the five, only one of whom had ever known Sugarloaf during a school trip. Malala wanted to listen to their stories in depth, with the help of three translators. And the girls had already done their homework: they had been studying Malala for two months since their foundation made the first contact.

– Everything was wonderful The conversation was very focused on our reality: what we live and what challenges us. She wanted to know what education looked like in Rio and asked why the girls, even with the shootings, were going to school. Paloma replied that if she stopped now, she would no longer be anyone in the future. It was a very intimate moment

The tour followed for lunch in a restaurant known as Santa Teresa , in which Malala, the girls and the teacher ate the Caipira chicken. Tuany will now remain in touch with the Malala Foundation, which has announced the opening of projects in Brazil, and the possibility of financial support remains open. Since the month of April, Na Ponta do Pés has a collective financing site that has collected only 2,500 reais on the goal of 17,000 reais.

Later, the Pakistani woman visited the Pimpolhos da Grande Rio project, in the hangar of the mother school, Academicians of Greater Rio Since 2012, the school has developed a project called "Carnival Experience ", to receive tourists. It is one of the few in Samba City that has this type of infrastructure. A few minutes before the arrival, the school members knew that they were going to receive an important visit, but they did not know who. They had to follow important safety instructions, including not taking pictures of the event. Malala was received by two young women who have been part of Pimpolhos since the age of five, Dandara and King. They learned English and went to the university with the support of the children's school. Today, they were kind of ambbadadors.

During the visit, Malala learned a bit about the history of samba and Pimpolhos schools herself, and spoke with the members of the badociation about the importance of schools secondary for the continuity of the samba culture. She also played percussion instruments with the children and participated in a makeup and masking workshop.

Every year, the Pakistani chooses a special trip for her birthday, in order to draw attention to the struggle for education.
