A fishery between father and son ended in tragedy Sunday afternoon (29), in the municipality of Peixoto de Azevedo (692 km from Cuiabá). Both were drowned when the man tried to save the 7 year old child.
The case occurred in the Rio Peixoto around 4 pm, while they were on the banks of the river
Both were in the company of more people. At one point, the father – identified as Zil Cardoso, 59, was warned that his son was drowning.
At this point, the man jumped into the water to try to save the child. He reached it, but both ended up being dragged together in a deep part of the river.
Teams from the Fire Department and the Civil Police mobilized to conduct searches for both days, but without success.
It was only on Monday morning (30) that divers were able to locate the bodies, which were only 20 meters from where they disappeared.
