Eletrobras shareholders approved today (30), in an extraordinary meeting, the extension of the company's date to remain responsible for the operation of its electricity distributors in the States of & 39; Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Rondônia and Roraima for December 31, 2018.
The expiry of the authorization that allowed the temporary operation of these subsidiaries by Eletrobras would expire tomorrow (31).
This extension also applies to Companhia Energética do Piauí (Cepisa), which was auctioned on the last Thursday of the year. (26). In this case, the extension is valid until Equatorial Energia, winner of the event, takes over the management of the company in the next 90 days.
The measure aims to give the government time to finalize the privatization process of the subsidiaries. Approved in early July, the provisional measure authorizing privatization awaits the appreciation of the Senate.
The auction of other distributors is scheduled for August 30th. It is the Acre Electricity Company (Eletroacre), Rondônia Power Plants (Ceron), Boa Vista Energia, Roraima Energy Distributor and Amazon Energy Distributor. (Amazonas Energia).
Another distributor, Companhia Energética de Alagoas (Ceal) has suspended the auction because of a court decision. The government hopes to overturn the decision before the date of the auction.
Last week, MS Executive Secretary Márcio Félix said the government was working with the prospect of closing the market. deal until the end of the month of August, in order to avoid a possible liquidation of distributors.
