Before Man returned to the moon, nine companies and private start-ups participated in a NASA-sponsored competition to transport modules with scientific equipment.

However, many of them said that they would not be ready by 2021.
According to NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, the idea is to create an American domestic system that allows for quick return trips. Donald Trump's government is betting on new technologies, as well as defining strategies to reduce the price of space travel and acting as a catalyst for new businesses to explore the commercial sector.
NASA's Commecial Lunar Payload Services program encourages companies to find small spacecraft solutions that can carry scientific equipment on lunar soil. At the same time, help the Space Agency explore and determine possible locations for building the bases of operations.
