The old enemy and the forms of prevention are known, but Minas Gerais enters a new period of propagation of the dengue in a critical situation. Aedes aegypti (Liraa) show that at least 40.7% of municipalities that have communicated to the state the results of the study are at risk or vigilant facing the possibility of an epidemic . Several cities in the state of Minas Gerais were containers for storing water – one of the repercussions of the water crisis that the state has been facing from 2014 onwards.
This year, dengue fever causes even more concern. After eight years, the Denv type virus 2. Since a good part of the population has not been in contact with this strain, the risk of contamination is greater. And health authorities have warned: one of the characteristics of the serotype that has again been detected in the state is more seriously aged under 15 years.
The results of the Lira in October are disturbing. Of the 853 municipalities of Minas Gerais, 819 sent information to the Secretary of State of Sade (SES / MG). In 60 of them, the index was above 4%, which is considered an epidemic risk situation. The percentage indicates that, out of every 100 people surveyed, four outbreaks of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were found which, in addition to dengue fever, transmitted the zika and chikungunya virus. In 288 other municipalities, the index was between 1% and 3.9%, indicating a warning situation. The survey revealed that conditions were satisfactory for the remaining 478 people.
Liraa showed a considerable increase over the last study in August. At the time, 816 municipalities had sent information to the state, eight of which were at risk of outbreak, 170 were on alert and 638 in a satisfactory situation. "At this stage, a slightly higher infestation rate is expected. But 60 municipalities are at risk of outbreak of arbovirus and 288 others are in a worrying situation," says Mrcia Ootemam, coordinator of the national program of diseases transmitted by Aedes Aegypti.
In light of the results, one of the alerts issued by the Sade State Secretariat regarding the storage of water by the inhabitants of mining towns. In 233 of them, this type of deposit served as a breeding ground for the mosquito. Of 153 others, the main outbreaks were of domestic origin and, in 138 cities, garbage dumps, tires and natural deposits contained insect larvae. "Aedes control needs to be done all the time, but for the moment, we need to step up the actions.Residents should look carefully at homes and water tanks," said Ociaam.
DENV 2 The alert regarding the return of type 2 virus is another cause for concern. "The virus has existed in the state since 2011, but it has never been dominated, the field has always been type 1. But this year, Denv2 is predominant and more seriously affects children under 15 This is why the state is on alert, "commented the coordinator.
By 2018, the probable cases of dengue fever at 11 months had already exceeded those of the whole of last year. The Epidemiological Bulletin released yesterday by the Sade State Secretariat states that there are only 26,721 notifications, which includes confirmed and suspected diagnoses. This number represents 3% more than in the whole of last year, while there were 25,933 records.
The year may also end with a greater number of deaths. Eight patients were confirmed for the disease, among the residents of Arajos, Arcos, Conceio do Par, Lagoa da Prata and Moema, in west-central Minas; Ituiutaba and Uberaba, in Tringulo; besides Contagem, in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte. Thirteen cases are still under investigation. Last year, there were 19 fatal cases of the disease.
Regarding Chikungunya fever, Minas Gerais recorded 11,697 probable cases of the disease, most in the Ao Valley region. This year has not been confirmed death by illness, but two being investigated. In the case of zika, 163 probable cases of the disease were recorded, without registration of bito.
