In Dragon Ball, Goku and Vegeta can merge in two different ways: through metamorous dance and Potara earrings. Each of the fusions gives rise to a different warrior, Gogeta and Vegetto, respectively. But who would win a hypothetical fight between the two? Akira Toriyama has the answer
The creator of Dragon Ball answered this question in an interview published in the weekly magazine Shonen Jump. He explained that Gogeta would be stronger, because the metamorous dance unites the warriors in a more balanced way. Vegetto could, however, have an advantage, as the dance merges only half an hour, while that of the earrings in Potara lasts twice as long.
The dance of the metamoru fusion was introduced in the Majin Boo saga, in Dragon Ball Z. Initially, the first to use it were Goten and Trunks, giving birth to Gotenks. Gogeta appears only in Fusion Reborn, a non-canonical film from 1995, and was incorporated into the canon in 2018 in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly.
Vegetto appears for the first time in the Majin Boo saga when Goku and Vegeta use the Potara earrings. He manages to dominate the villain with some ease and faces him even after being turned into a coffee ball. Vegetto is absorbed by Boo with the intention of saving Piccolo, Gohan, Goten and Trunks, already absorbed before.
He would reappear in Dragon Ball Super, when the Saiyans would again use the Potara earrings to face Zamasu.
