Nokia would delay the Android update to increase sales of 8.1

Nokia

According to anonymous sources related to the company, Nokia already have ready and available updates for Android 9 Pie on several of their devices, but would contain them all in order to increase the sales volume the most recent models, including the Nokia 8.1.

HMD Global, a company that owns the rights to use the "Nokia" trademark, had promised Android 9 Pie for the month of November, which has not yet materialized. A source told the Web Arena website that the system has been ready for some time, but only Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 handsets – which have been on the market for months and do not have new models – must go out in December. However, in the case of version 8.1, the company's chief executive, Juho Sarvikas, made the decision earlier this month, saying it would "force" consumers to buy the handset.

In essence, the device should receive the Android update only at the end of December or, more likely, at the beginning of January 2019. Nokia and HMD Global have not commented these informations.
