Every day, 40 years ago, José repeats rituals of work in the Basilica of Conceição da Praia, celebrated on December 8, when the parish celebrates the great feast of the saint. The preparations for the image of the saint usually begin in the middle of each year. This is the time needed to sew new dresses and, as important as the new wig. Without change, the hair will spoil and damage the material of the image. The place of the hair donation varies according to the faithful, but when that happens, the strings are left at the feet of the saint's image.
"In the old days, even wives dress wives who have married here, and today they do not have hair anymore, we have not seen them", remembers -he.

The layout of the image is performed by women the night before the parade. This year, the process began at 6 pm on Friday (7). The clothes and hair of the previous year are changed. The feast in honor of Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Praia is the oldest religious festival in Brazil, celebrated since 1550.
