Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) begins this Saturday (8) the blocking of mobile phones hacked in 10 Brazilian states. The goal is to prevent the commercialization of counterfeit devices or the IMEI, a 15-digit code identifying the tamper-proof brand and model.

The messages are sent by the number 2828. These are mainly falsified cell phones in Acre, Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, Tocantins and Santa Catarina.

Before blocking, Anatel sends a message at 50 and 25 days before the suspension. Also warns you the day before.

According to the agency, among the irregular mobile phones to block, some do not offer the quality and safety required by Brazilian regulations. In the Federal District and in the state of Goiás, where the blockade has been carried out since May, more than 108.8 million handsets have already been excluded from the networks of mobile phone service providers.

In other states, blocking messages will be sent from January 7, 2019 and cell phones will be blocked on March 24 of next year. In these locations, the measure will apply to irregular devices activated on the supplier networks as of January 7th.

Injured consumers should look for the company or the person who sold the device and badert their rights. It is also possible to check in a section of Anatel's website if the cell has an irregularity.
