The retired chairman of the Nissan Carlos Ghosn Board of Directors had the intention to recover "personal effects, documents, money, objects and works of art. "art" in an apartment in Rio de Janeiro that may contain evidence of financial fraud charges.
The apartment, which Nissan claims to own, contains three safes that the builder has not yet opened, according to documents that the Japanese group submitted to the Brazilian court last week. José Roberto de Castro Neves, of Ghosn, said that he was not aware of the existence of the three coffers.
"He is a very smart guy," Castro Neves said in a phone interview. "If he had done something wrong, he would not have left it in the apartment."
