Pedro Sánchez, Spanish Prime Minister, announced Wednesday that the minimum wage had risen to 900 euros.
In his speech to Parliament, Sánchez said that the increase would be 22% because "a rich country can not have poor workers." The measure will still be approved by the Spanish Council of Ministers, scheduled December 21st in Barcelona.
The minimum income rose from 735.90 euros to 900 euros, an increase resulting from an agreement signed between the government and the leftist party, Podemos, in the state budget for 2019.
