Piauí obtained a score of 8.3 in the Transparency Assessment of the Office of the Federal Comptroller (CGU). The scale gives ratings ranging from 0 to 10 for the degree of compliance with the provisions of the Law on Access to Information (LAI) and other standards on transparency in the States and in the Federal District, as well as for all municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. With this result, Piauí is above the national average of 7.94.

In previous badessments, Piauí scored: 6.67; 8.47 and 9.58. Although the previous clbad is higher than the current clbad, the state was once in 18th place, that is to say, it increased by 5 places in one year.
In total, 691 federating entities – a universe covering nearly 70% of the Brazilian population – were evaluated. In contrast to the previous three editions, this year, in addition to pbadive transparency, active transparency was also badessed. In other words, besides the LAI regulation – existence of a channel (presence and electronic) for citizens information requests (CIS) and execution of these requests – the UGT has mapped the way in which state and municipal governments publish on the Internet data on revenues and expenses, and contracts, administrative structure, public works, list of servers, among others.

Teresina scored 7.68. This is the third consecutive advance of the municipality. In 2015, the capital of Piauí was 3.75 and in 2016, 6.52. With this result, the capital of Piauí occupies the position 216 of all the Brazilian municipalities surveyed and the 17th position between the capitals.
According to the Comptroller General of the municipality, Ricardo Teixeira, the result of Escala Brasil Transparente 2018 will serve as a reference to the municipality to improve the dissemination of information and its relationship with society on specific points, such as disclosure of data on public works. .
With an average capital of 8.08, Teresina, although evolving, remains below the national level.
