President Michel Temer and President-elect Jair Bolsonaro participated Friday morning (14) in the launching ceremony of the submarine Riachuelo, in the naval complex of Itaguaí, on the south coast of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the navy, the submarine has a range of more than 70 days and will be used for patrols on the Brazilian coast, also known as the Blue Amazon. The submarine will be launched in the sea this Friday.
The first lady, Marcela Temer, baptized the submarine breaking a bottle of champagne against her helmet. "God bless this submarine and all the sailors who sail nearby," said the First Lady.
Also present at the ceremony, Admiral Squadron, Eduardo Bacellar, Commander of the Navy, Ministers Moreira Franco (Mines and Energy); General Joaquim Silva e Luna (Defense); Raul Jungmann (Public Security) and the Mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Marcelo Crivella.

The name of the submarine is allusive to the naval battle of Riachuelo, in the war of Paraguay, where the navy acted. The confrontation took place on the banks of the Riachuelo, a tributary of the Paraguay River.
The submarine is part of the underwater development program (Prosub), in progress since 2008. According to the navy, R $ 17.4 billion has already been invested in the program. It is expected that here 2029 R $. 35 billion.
Riachuelo is the first in a series of four clbadic submarines and a nuclear submarine built by the Navy. The Brazilian clbadic submarines have already begun to be built and will be ready by the end of 2022, according to the Navy.
