A fire of great proportions reached several wooden houses between the streets Inácio Guimarães and Nova, in the Educandos district, in the southern area of Manaus, on the night of this Monday (17). There is still no information on the number of households affected. The causes of the fire are unknown. Up to now, four people have been referred to hospitals in the capital.
The fire hits homes located on the banks of the Rio Negro. Instead, the houses are glued and go up a ravine. The first, near the river, are stilts. As the ravine rises, the houses are larger. At G1 a resident said that a fire would have started in the houses closest to the river, from the bottom up.
Twelve fire engines were moved to the area. It is estimated that about 100,000 liters of water have already been used at work.
Winches from the State Department of the Transit of Amazonas (Detran-AM) and the Municipal Institute of Engineering and Traffic Monitoring (Manaustrans) withdraw the cars parked in streets affected by a fire. Eletrobras Distribuição Amazonas has cut electricity from the place for security reasons.
