NASA captures a star photo 200 times larger than the sun According to the US Space Agency (NASA), NASA has released an image taken by the Hubble Space Telescope of a distant star larger, more massive and even brighter than the Sun.

American star, the star in question looks like a "Christmas wreath made of bright lights".

In fact, the bright whirlpools photographed by the telescope are the result of dust lit by RS Puppis, the big star in the center of the image, 200 times larger and 10 times more mbadive than the Sun.

RS Puppis, located 6,500 light years from our planet, shines and darkens rhythmically in cycles of six weeks. It's one of the brightest among the so-called "Cepheid variable stars". Its average brightness is 15,000 times higher than that of the Sun.
