The tourism industry in Rio is celebrating. The occupation of hotels for New Year's Eve already has several complete hotels. Last year, the crisis left a lot of empty rooms. The difference compared to the new year of 2018 is considerable: almost 35% more occupation.
In 2017, at five or six New Year's day, the occupation of hotels was 50%. This year, the occupancy rate at five or six days of recovery until 2019 is 85% of rooms are occupied, leaving very optimistic representatives of the city's hotel network.
According to the Brazilian Association of Hotels (ABIH), Flamengo (91%) is the most sought-after area, with more welcoming rooms, followed by Ipanema and Leblon (89%), followed by Barra da Tijuca ( 87%), which exceeds for the first time the demand for four Copacabana (85%).
Consumers are looking for more priced rooms. However, hotel representatives believe that, until the New Year's Eve, demand will increase further, especially in Copacabana.
