Soyuz brought back NASA astronaut Serena Auñón-Chancellor, the German astronaut of the European Space Agency Alexander Gerst and the Russian cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev. On board the capsule were also samples of the area around the hole discovered a few weeks ago. The material was collected during an exit in space on December 12 by the Russians Sergey Prokopyev and Oleg Kononenko.
The hole was detected a few weeks ago when the pressure aboard the International Space Station fell. The team reacted quickly and managed to fix it with glue, remembering Slashgear . The situation was not a danger for the ISS, the crew or the Soyuz, but there was no indication that we were facing sabotage.
The ISS team rejected these theories, but Russian authorities have again advanced and confirmed that the hole would have been filled from within. The samples will now be examined, but the possibility that the hole was made on Earth before launch was not excluded.
