The Petrobras Board of Directors approved a complementary protection mechanism "to provide additional flexibility to the management of the diesel price policy", similar to what is already happening with gasoline, announced Friday the oil company.
"Petrobras believes that it is important to put in place mechanisms enabling it, in times of high market volatility, to change the frequency of daily readjustments of diesel prices on the domestic market, or even to keep it stable for short periods up to seven days, reconcile their business interests with the requirements of their customers and market agents in general, "said the state.
The company indicated that it would have the opportunity to apply the mechanism after the end of the economic subsidy program for the marketing of diesel of the Union, scheduled for December 31.
The government created the diesel subsidy program after the truckers' strike in late May. One of the main claims of the category was the reduction of the price of diesel.
"Principles of the International Parity Price (IPP), margins to compensate for operational risks, and the level of market participation remain in effect, as well as the correlation with changes in the price of diesel on the market international and exchange rate rate, "said the state-owned company.
The transfer of Petrobras readjustments in refineries to consumers depends on distributors. In other words, it is the responsibility of the stations to pbad on or not the reduction of the price of gasoline to the final consumer.
Currently, the price per liter of the disel is R $ 1.8088.
Petrobras has adopted a new format for price adjustment policy since July 3 of last year. According to the new methodology, readjustments can occur more frequently, including daily.
