Super Smash Ultimate Bros • Switch Brazil

It took a bit, but finally our badysis of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out. The Super Smash Bros franchise is a celebration in which the main characters from Nintendo and other producers come together. In this context, the latest version, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, is the culmination. Well, let's break it down! Certainly, for the vast majority of people who follow the world of video games, the following description is useless, but good. We are talking about a fighting game in which players use their attacks to weaken their opponents and throw them out of an arena. There is no here, as in most traditional fighting games, power bar for each character. What we have is a record of the percentage of damage suffered by each fighter, the greater the damage, the further the character is thrown away when he is hit. But the charm of the series lies in its composition of fighters, consisting of characters from the main Nintendo franchises and famous series of other producers such as SEGA, Bandai-Namco, Capcom, Konami, Square, etc. The series came to the hands of Masahiro Sakurai, who since the first game, released in 1999, has played the role of director of games. Ultimate was developed by Bandai Namco and Sora Ltd. and published by Nintendo.

As I said at the beginning of this review, Ultimate is the biggest celebration and nothing more natural to bring together the greatest number of guests ever seen in a game in the series. We are talking about a total of 74 characters up to now. These are the 63 fighters who appeared in the previous games and 11 new ones: Inklings (Splatoon), Princess Daisy (Mario), Simon and Richter Belmont (Castelvânia), Chrom (Fire Emblem: Awakening), Ridley and Dark Samus (Metroid). Isabelle (Animal Crossing), King K. Rool (Donkey Kong), Ken (Street Fighter) and Incinerate (Pokemon). Just to be aware that when we started the game, only the 8 characters of the original Super Smash Bros. released for the N64 were available.

There are several game modes and I have chosen to briefly describe them below

Smash – This is a well-known franchise mode in which we played fast matches involving up to 8 fighters against friends or characters controlled by the CPU. Many choices can be made: fighting style, time, number of lives, endurance, etc.

Team Strike – Here, we have to face team battles of 3 against 3 or 5 against 5. There are three ways to play: Team Team, Elimination and the best of . In team Tag mode, we choose the teams and the order in which the fighters of each team will be used will win the team which will first eliminate all members of the opposing team. The elimination mode has the same logic as the tag team, the only difference being that when a fighter is defeated, a new step is chosen. In this mode is played a tournament with up to 32 fighters, we can also choose several parameters such as time. and the number of lives.

Special Smash – We have three options here: Custom Smah, Smashdown and 300 percent Sudden Death. Custom Smash is nothing more than Smash mode, it's even more crazy. In this mode, we can make several changes to the characters: size (mega or mini), body (metal, tail, shield at the back, etc.), we can always change the speed and the camera. In Smashdown, we have to face a series of battles, but here, when a character is used (by us or by our opponent), it is no longer available for selection on the next turn. Again, we can customize battles by choosing various settings. In Super Mortden Death, the name says it all, we start with 300% damage and the goal is to quickly eliminate the opponent with stronger attacks.

Clbadic Mode – In this mode, we play a sequence of battles with increasing difficulty. end we always face a boss. For each character, there is an exclusive path, with custom battles! There are a lot of rewards when we end up with a character, so it's worth playing at least once with each character.

Mob Smash – We have three options again: Century Smash, All-Star Smash or Cruel Smash. In Century Smash, the goal is to defeat 100 enemies in the shortest time possible. In All-Star Smash, we have to face all the fighters of the match. The goal here is to see how much you can beat before falling. Cruel Smash has the same logic as the Century Smash, but opponents are now too hard to beat.

We finally arrived in in adventure mode or in the world of light . This is the story mode offered by the game, and it was launched only by Kirby, the only survivor of the destructive attack launched by Galeem. In this mode, we must explore a gigantic map and fight against the spirit of the characters that make up the universe of games. These spirits, integrated into the combatants, give them the most diverse abilities. To the extent that spirits are defeated, they are added to our collection and can of course be used by us in our battles. There are primary and supporting spirits, the main adding skills such as attack, defense or imprint. There is an interesting and important logic here, if you face an opponent who uses the item defense, we should use as the primary fingerprint. It works like this, a spirit of defense must be used against an attacker, an attack must be used against an imprint and a footprint against a spirit of defense.

But there is still more, much more, since the primary spirits bring "locations" that can be filled with supportive spirits. These secondary spirits bring important benefits in the fighting. They can, for example, make the fight start with a certain object, or confer immunity to lava floors or against poisoning, can also physically modify the character, for example by starting the fight. like metal, and so on. This is a lot and a lot of possibilities! And it goes without saying that every spirit has a level and that it can be improved in many ways!

The map that develops the adventure mode is an attraction for the piece, full of references, and when I speak of references, it is not limited to the representation of regions and scenarios of famous franchises. There are details in the builds that pay homage to even the old Nintendo hardware. If the map itself, when it's fully open, already seems huge, it's good to keep in mind that it's actually much larger, because there are regions accessible via caves, dungeons, etc. I do not want to give spoilers here, but there are a lot of hidden surprises all over the map.

We also have the Spirit Board a separate place where we have the opportunity to create powerful minds. Fights in this mode can be very difficult if good spirits are not used, something else, cards with spirits are available for about 5 minutes.

In addition to all the above, there is also the online mode . . Even in a game with so much content, the online mode is an important guarantee of longevity and many players buy the game on their behalf. This mode offers two options, Smash in which we play with other players from around the world and Spectate, where we can watch the electrifying battles. When we enter Smash, we have the options of Quikplay, Battle Arenas and Background Matchmaking. In the latter case, we make our choices and we can play other modes until the fight begins. I played gambling for about 40 hours, of which about one fifth was spent on online litigation.

One of the coolest things about Super Smash Ultimate Bros is the ability to let the super-custom fights, regardless of the mode chosen, there are always several customization options available, this makes the game very entertaining for a very large audience. My 7-year-old son, who has little experience in gaming, manages to have a lot of fun, and some very experienced friends in franchise games have also easily found a setup that will make them smile. The songs have always figured prominently in the series and in Ultimate it could not be otherwise. All songs from previous versions are present and many have won new arrangements and new versions. The song Lifelight that opens the World of Light mode is beautiful, and of course, the game features a very complete Sounds menu, allowing you to listen to all the songs in the game, to create our own playlists for fights or even to listen to songs.

There is much more to talk about this new Smash, I've really enjoyed the balance between so many characters, the graphics and animations are awesome with extreme attention to detail and the possibility of playing a smash with this quality in portable mode is amazing. In my opinion, the adventure mode World of Light steals the scene and brings new ares and opportunities for the series. For all this, it is not even necessary to say that the game is more than recommended, it is almost imperative to buy for those who have a Nintendo switch.

The expression love letter for fans never returns as well in a match. You can spend hours and hours just enjoying the details and information provided by the game. There is a huge amount of content to unlock, many surprises and exciting conflicts. There are 1300 spirits, more than 800 songs, the 74 characters already mentioned, 103 different scenarios without counting their variations. The adventure mode is amazing and can easily take over 20 hours. The game fulfills very well the difficult mission of being accessible to beginners and extremely stimulating for veterans. It's guaranteed pleasure for months and months! Let's celebrate!
