Egyptian security forces killed 40 suspects in three operations in Giza and Sinai, the Interior Ministry said Saturday.

The actions take place in the aftermath of a bomb attack aimed at killing tourists near the Giza pyramids.

The Minister has not confirmed that the deceased suspects are directly related to the sixth attack, but said that 30 people had been killed during clashes in Giza, where "terrorist elements" had planned a series of attacks directed against state institutions and tourists.

Three Vietnamese tourists and an Egyptian guide were killed and 12 others were injured Friday (28), when a bomb placed on Sinai

Egypt fought Islamist militants for years in the Sinai Peninsula as part of an insurgency sometimes moving inland, targeting mainly the Christian minority or tourists.
