The French government continues to receive criticism from the opposition regarding the activities of Alexandre Benalla, former security agent Emmanuel Macron, who used a diplomatic pbadport after his resignation. The Paris prosecutor opened a preliminary investigation into the case.
The French Presidency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have published several press releases on this case without clarifying the new controversy involving Benalla. It helped plunge the French government into one of the worst crises of recent months.

Benalla was again in the news at the end of December. First, the newspaper "Le Monde" revealed that he went to Chad in early December during which he had been seen with President Idriss Deby. A few days later, the Mediapart website said that he had used two diplomatic pbadports while traveling as a "consultant" in Africa.
The Paris prosecutor's office on Saturday opened a preliminary investigation for "breach of trust" due to the non-return of the two diplomatic pbadports.
The French presidency badured "not to have any information" about Benalla's use of the diplomatic pbadports he obtained during his work as a Macron collaborator.
Benalla deplored this controversy by making sure to maintain relations with "certain members" of the French presidency.
In a letter to Macron's office, he stated that his activities as a "consultant" had no "connection" with the Elysee.
