A railway fire interrupted part of line 2 of the Rio de Janeiro metro early this afternoon (29). Around 13:30, the section operated only between Estácio and Maria da Graça, instead of going to Pavuna, in the northern zone.
According to MetrôRio, an electric airway cable posed problems between Tomás Coelho and Engenho da Rainha stations. On social networks, videos show flames and a lot of smoke. Dealer teams have mastered the fire and are working on the restoration of energy.
The incident closed 11 stations of line 2 – the compositions from the center had closed three stops before the point reached and the pbadengers were forced to disembark.
Line 2 connects Pavuna, in the north zone and on the border with São João de Meriti, in the Baixada Fluminense, in the center of Rio.
On working days, the compositions go to Botafogo, in the southern zone, from where it is possible to follow up to Barra by line 4.
Weekends and days on line 2 go to Estácio, where the pbadenger must transfer to the other lines.
