The man suspected of raping a 21-year-old girl for 13 consecutive days was released as a result of a judge's decision. The shocking case occurred during a trip started on the 14th of this month between Paraná and Ceará. The judge who granted the release of the suspect justified his decision by stating that the arrest had not been made in flagrante delicto.
The girl boarded the 55-year-old man because he was a friend of the family. She only managed to escape in a moment of distraction from the trucker. The man was arrested Thursday (27), the same day they arrived in Horizonte, in the metropolitan area of Fortaleza.
The woman escaped and asked for help from the locals, who took her to the police station. To the police, the victim stated that the abuse was perpetrated by violence and threats. She stated that she had been held inside the truck cab when she had been mistreated and threatened with death.
The truck driver was found hours later at a gas station. He was arrested and pbaded exams with the forensic expertise of Ceará. According to the Under-Secretariat for Security and Social Defense (SSPDS), the man was allegedly charged with rape and abduction for libidinous purposes, but later released.
Investigations continue.
