A fire hit the Copel substation in the Novo Mundo district of Curitiba, leaving about 45,000 buildings without electricity in the morning since Sunday (6). The fire was declared around 20:35, when the fire department was activated. Neighbors saw smoke leave the scene and start the fire department. According to the company, the lack of energy for consumers lasted between nine and thirty minutes.

The firefighters arrived quickly to attend the incident, but as it was a substation who transmits high voltage energy, the team had yet to wait for the arrival of Copel technicians enter.

In a note addressed to Tribuna Copel confirmed that a small fire had been declared Sunday morning in a component of the New World energy substation. As soon as it detected the incident, Copel transferred the load from this substation to another, in order to reconnect the approximately 45,000 consumer units without electricity
. restored around 10:30. Copel technicians also inspected the power grid near the substation and found no breakdowns. Now they are still working to repair the damage to the substation.
