Minister Dias Toffoli, President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), suspended, by injunction (interim decision), the blocking of R $ 443.3 million in the accounts of Minas Gerais. The decision was signed on January 4th.
The request was made by the prosecutors of Minas Gerais to prevent the government from blocking the amount as collateral in a loan contract between the state and Banco do Brasil.
Supreme Court, the state government stated that the federal government had notified him the payment of the deposit, but that no administrative proceedings had been initiated, procedure which would be adequate to claim the default.
In 2012 and 2013, Minas Gerais made two loans: 1 of 3.6 billion rand for the development program of Minas Gerais and another of 1 billion rand for the road infrastructure program.
With the decision of Toffoli, the state can not be registered in the registers of the offenders of the administration.
According to the Minister, the decision taken during the period of suspension of the hearing at the Court is justified to avoid the paralysis of public accounts of the State.
