Hackers cross Netflix as part of a new cyber-coup. The framework was discovered by the ESET cybersecurity company.
In the shot in question, the victim receives an email requesting the update of the cadastral data of the Netflix streaming service. The goal is to identify active addresses that could be targets for future actions.
The coup d'etat works as follows. In the body of the email, the victim is informed that she may lose her signature if her registration data is not updated. To prevent this from happening, the user is prompted to click on a button – supposed to direct the update of this data – or on two other links of the message.
When accessing any of these links, the victim is redirected to a completely blank page, with a single dot (.) At the top of the screen.
According to the company, cybercriminals aim to identify and collect valid and active emails to use in future campaigns. nasty
In addition, cybercriminals can also infer that most victims are Netflix customers, information that can also be used in future scams.
