The Municipality of São João Nepomuceno released on Friday (11) the first survey of the rapid index of Aedes aegypti (LIRAa) of 2019. The endemic agents verified an index of infestation of 2.3%, considered a situation of vigilance.

According to the Municipal Department of Health, the survey was conducted between 7 and 9 January. During this period, officers visited 516 properties and discovered 23 mosquito outbreaks. Most outbreaks were detected in residences, about 80%.

The neighborhoods that recorded the highest infestation rate were the Center, 10.6%; Novo Horizonte, 7.1%; Bela Vista, 6.9%; Caxangá, 6.1%; and São José, 1.8%.

The mayor announces that she continues her campaigns of awareness, prevention and fight against the proliferation of Aedes aegypti and emphasizes the importance of the help provided by the population, account given the large number of outbreaks detected in homes.

The next LIRAa in São João Nepomuceno is scheduled for the month of March.
