Geologists began this Saturday (12) to map a lagoon near the neighborhood that may flow to Maceió.

Work began on Saturday, January 12, around 10 am, in Lagoa Mundaú, Maceió. Researchers from the Brazilian Geological Survey are trying to determine if there are any changes in soils at the bottom of the lagoon.

Mundaú Lagoon is located near the Pinheiro district, home to about 19,000 people. Nearly a year ago, residents were hit by cracks in the streets and inside houses.

There is still no specific date for the dissemination of studies to determine the causes of the sinking of the Pinheiro district. Researchers expect the first results to be presented in March.
