Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced Monday (14) a 300% increase in the minimum wage from 4,500 to 18,000 bolivars, and guaranteed that his government would continue to pay for the relations of employees of private companies to avoid this high inflation.
With this increase, the minimum wage increased from $ 5.22 (about R $ 19) to $ 20.9 (R $ 77), according to the official exchange rate, which maintains the near-4 rate according to the clbadification of the United Nations, millions of workers who receive it in extreme poverty.
Maduro made these announcements during his annual speech to the nation, which took place before the National Constituent Assembly (NCA), composed only of government officials and not recognized by several countries.
During the same speech, Maduro also talked about the arrival of new doctors in the country.
"In the coming weeks, a strengthening of Alba, Cuba, will arrive, with the arrival of 2,000 community doctors from Cuba, directly from Brazil, from samba to joropo dance (Venezuelan musical genre), "said Maduro, who added that he should reach 500 other Cuban medical specialists. "I call on communities to organize a big party," he said.
Still in front of the Constituent Assembly, Maduro on Sunday criticized the pre-trial detention of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, of what he called a "media show".
The opponent was arrested by agents of the Venezuelan intelligence services (Sebin) and, according to his wife and parliamentarians of his party, released a few minutes later. The action took place on a highway that leaves the capital Caracas towards La Guaira.
According to Maduro, the (Sebin) officials who badumed this role are "traitors" and their dismissal is immediately ordered.
