The 54-year-old British businessman Richard Mason did not believe he had received the news that he had cystic fibrosis that had caused him infertility all his life – after all, he had three children .
"I thought the diagnosis was wrong," Mason said in an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live.
Worried, he asks his ex-wife, Kate, if he is the biological father of the couple's three children. As she badured him, Mason hoped that the examinations were wrong. But they were not.
The businessman has actually suffered from cystic fibrosis throughout his life. The inherited disease is considered serious and affects several organs, in a process of obstruction caused by the increase in viscosity of the mucus. In most affected men, the disease leads to infertility. In Brazil, it affects one in 10,000 people.
The sisters of Mason were already suffering from the disease and he had made a test to find out if he was also born of this disease because he could not manage to to impregnate his second wife, Emma.
Confirmed DNA tests: Twins Ed and Joal, 19, and Willem, 23, were not Mason's biological sons.
Mason was separated from his ex-wife in 2007, after 20 years of marriage. Noting that the three children born during the marriage were not his, he decided to sue the ex-wife for paternal fraud.
Kate is ordered to return $ 320,000 out of the $ 5 million she had received under the divorce settlement. Justice allowed him to keep the identity of the true father of young men secret.
"I did not know what was real and what was not, it was as if I lived in the womb," Mason told the Daily Mail.
"For a long time, I could not think of anything else," said the businessman at BBC Radio 5 Live.
"I am sure that in the future I will find out who the biological father is.I do not know if it is one of my friends, it could be somebody from very close to me, "Mason told the BBC.
"When you have such a mystery in your life and you are affected in this way, everyone would want to know the truth."
Mason offers $ 6,400 to anyone helping him discover who is the biological father of his children.

Despite obtaining a victory in the lawsuit against the ex-wife, Mason did not have peace.
Due to legal dispute, her sons decide to break up his relationship with him.
