BOGOTÁ, JANUARY 18 (ANSA) – The toll of a suicide bombing committed against a police cadet school in Bogota, capital of Colombia, rose to 21 on Thursday. .
The attack was committed by José Aldemar Rojas Rodríguez, who, aboard a van from the Nissan Patrol, crossed the security checkpoint at the general police academy from Santander at a graduation ceremony and blew up the car.
The vehicle was carrying about 80 pounds of explosives and exploded 20 meters after the school entrance between an auditorium and a pavilion. Rodríguez was 56 years old and was from Puerto Boyacá, but the attack has not yet been claimed.
The Attorney General, however, concludes that the last two revisions of the car were carried out in Arauca, a department that concentrates the operations of the largest guerrillas. (ELN)
