The Eastern Military Command (CML) opened an investigation to investigate the death of a sergeant after a battery of physical exercises in the military village of the western area of Rio.
Gabriel Trettel Telles died on Saturday (19), two days later after successfully pbading a physical fitness test before he could take the Army Operational Specialization course.
According to the CML, the sergeant would have suffered "complications due to possible thermal exhaustion" during the battery of physical exercises. He was rescued at the general hospital of the military village and then transferred to the central hospital of the army.
"Despite all the procedures and protocols necessary to keep him alive, he unfortunately died on the night of January 19," said the CML.
The CML did not disclose information regarding the sergeant's funeral. In a note, he regretted what had happened and said that he was supporting Gabriel's relatives.
"LMC members express their solidarity with the family of Sgt Telles at this time of pain and sorrow, to which all spiritual, psychological and administrative support is provided.

The Eastern military command reported Saturday that there had been a civilian paratrooper accident in Vila Militar, which he participated in a demonstration in the area after falling.
