Bertioga and Eldorado confirm new deaths from yellow fever | Saints and Region

In Bertioga, in the Baixada Santista region, the Ministry of Health reported that the victim was a 23-year-old boy. The record indicated that, although he was a resident, he had contracted the disease in San Sebastian, where he was working and was beginning to feel the symptoms of the disease.

In Eldorado, Vale do Ribeira, a 57-year-old man also died of yellow fever. In the city, at least nine cases have already been confirmed, out of these four deaths. Four other people are suspected of having the disease.

Doctors who prevent high fever, discomfort, body aches, nausea and vomiting for two or three days should consult a health facility. Improvement may occur, but symptoms may come back later with more intensity.

Eldorado has already, in 2019, nine cases of people with yellow fever confirmed according to the examinations conducted by the Adolfo Lutz Institute. Of these, four have died and four are still hospitalized in a serious condition leading to the treatment of the disease.

The city has three residents with yellow fever hospitalized at the Hospital das Clínicas and one at Emílio Ribas Hospital in São Paulo. There are four other suspected cases. There was also confirmation in a patient with the disease who had already received treatment and was released after improvement.

The Municipal Department of Health and Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of Eldorado directs all unimmunized municipalities to search for the nearest health posts. The vaccine must be applied ten days in advance for travel to risk areas.

Dosages are available in health facilities and are indicated for people from 9 months. Patients with HIV + or transplanted women who badfeed their children up to the age of six months and who are immunocompromised as patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or under high dose corticosteroids such as lupus and arthritis rheumatoid should consult their doctor indication of the vaccine.
