Marcelo Yuka died at the age of 53 at the Quinta D'or Hospital, in São Cristóvão, in the northern zone.
The artist is hospitalized in a serious condition with a picture of widespread infection. The musician suffered a stroke on January 2nd. In the middle of last year, he had already had another stroke.
In 2000, Yuka was paraplegic when he was hit by nine shots during an badault on a woman in Tijuca, in the northern area of Rio.
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1965, Marcelo Fontes do Nascimento Viana de Santa Ana, Marcelo Yuka, was one of the founders of the group O Rappa. In the group, he was principal drummer and composer until his departure in 2001.
Yuka wrote lyrics on topics such as urban violence, racism and social inequalities. "My soul (peace I do not want)", "Leave me" and "Every camburão has a small slave ship" , for example, were written by him.
Even unable to play drums, he continues in the group by publishing in 2001 the album "Instinto Coletivo", recorded in a show presented before the incident.
The same year, Yuka left O Rappa and claims to have been expelled by the other members for not having subscribed to the direction given by the group.

In 2004, he founded the group F.ur.to (Urban Front of Organized Works), part of the group. of a social project that already existed at the time of La Rappa.
Five years later, he was the victim of another badault and suffered punches and kicks from bandits trying to get his car.
The musician was found under the wheels of the vehicle and was not hit by the vehicle because the attackers could not start the vehicle, suitable for people with reduced mobility.
In 2017, he released his first solo album, "Songs for After Hate", with a sound mixing electronic beats and Afro rhythms, fruit of the partnership with the producer and DJ Apollo 9. Céu, Seu Jorge, Cibelle and Bukbada Kabengele participated in the album.
In politics, he is affiliated with the PSOL for eight years and then presents himself as deputy mayor of Rio de Janeiro on a plate with Marcelo Freixo in 2012.
In the documentary "Marcelo Yuka on the way of the arrows" by Daniela Broitman, released in 2012, group members explain the reasons for the end of the partnership with the drummer. One of them, according to the singer Marcelo Falcão, would be the deepening of the relations between the colleague of the time and certain social movements.
"Yuka's involvement in the movements was stronger, he had his stop, the activist, wanting to be the best for the guys and that except that some flags were using it."

When it is asked if it was not really those flags that had made of Rappa the band he was, Falcão replied by referring to two of the leading American rappers:
"I defend them all without me badociating politically with any. I do not wear a cap. I'm going to wear a hat to my mark. Jay-Z did that. Puff Daddy did that. Successful faces. Today, it is the rappers who run the American market. The guys started to understand that it's not just music, it's all avenging. Internet, everything. In the same documentary, Yuka himself, who until then was the group's lead composer, said that following the filming, the group had stated that the songs he had written should take less of place. in the records of Rappa.
"I was hurt because, at that time, the lyrics were already a case that everyone recognized as an important thing. But I had a lot of money because the lyrics are at 50% and I've also worked on the songs, so I had 50% law in the letter and another percentage as a musician. And it was still a nuisance. As the law was on my side, I never bowed, and I'll tell you: after all that happened, I see that if I'd bent over, I was f … Because you do not live with the author's right, but if I did not have the author's right, I would not have lived long "
Still in the documentary, Falcon replied:
"It's still ugly. All the guys who record it, I think it's ugly. It's always done the lyrics, c & # 39; is indisputable – Yuka has always made the lyrics. s lyrics say that they needed a talent, a love. What were the other groups that broke out? I wanted to understand how, in his head, when all this was happening, it was because he had a lawsuit. And in advance, with the advance money paid to artists by the record company in advance, the money was different.
In addition to these reasons, the other two members of Rappa – Marcelo Lobato and Xandão – say in the production that Yuka did not want to go to the studio to record a new album. According to Lobato, the group went into limbo and the situation proved unsustainable over time.
"The record never started, there comes a time when we are men, we are people, we have families, we can not stay here … If Yuka does not want to be with us, what we can do is continue our life, "said guitarist Xandão in the documentary.
In his defense, Yuka said no he had the physical conditions to go.
"And in this situation, no one came, no one went to anybody, no one wanted to know, no one called me … I thought: I am in this situation and I have to go?"
According to Falcão, the members decided to call a meeting. Yuka's departure was defined there
"I turned around and said:" Never again I sing your song … None And I know it's maybe one of the most big partnerships that worked for the 90th generation, it's a joke between him and me. "
" I think we lost, the band lost and he lost, too, you know? " a band is a chemistry, a band that you do not find, "Lauro joked in the documentary.
