The rescue of a bather who drowned in Ipanema Beach, in the southern area of Rio, caused an unusual scene in the early afternoon of Sunday (20).
The firefighters helicopter had to land in the sand of the overcrowded beach to make the call. Some swimmers were surprised by the movement of the army.
Carlos Roberto Pereira, 42, was rescued at sea by the men of the Copacabana Maritime Group. He was then resurrected in the sand and taken to an ambulance. Drowning occurred between stations 9 and 10 around 14h.
The victim went to Miguel Couto Hospital in Gávea, where she was hospitalized severely, according to information provided by the Municipal Department of Health.
