The US e-commerce giant arrives Tuesday (22) nationwide: the company announces the commissioning of a new distribution center in Cajamar, in the state of São Paulo. In total, 120,000 new items are part of the company's stock, which will be sold directly to the end consumer. Among the novelties of the operation, the possibility of fast delivery within two days, if the customer meets certain requirements.

The announcement was made by Regional Director Alex Szapiro. Until now, Amazon was selling mainly in the market, that is to say that other stores were offering their products on the site and in the business applications. With this change, the company now offers 15 product categories. New sectors include toys, baby products, beauty care and personal care. Users will notice vertical news dedicated to these themes directly in the Brazilian Amazon navigation menu.
The strengthening of national action concerns the new logistics. He joined another in Barueri, in the interior of São Paulo, where are currently some devices, including the Kindle. Szapiro, estimates that the 42 thousand square meters are equivalent to ten football stadiums. Some of the 1,400 direct and indirect employees of the company will be based in the country.
Despite a new center, built specifically for the company – which reveals neither the investment nor the time spent on the project – there is no robotization of space. These are humans who do all the inventory movement. "The human being is much more efficient in choosing shelves and in setting up products," Szapiro explains in an interview with TechTudo . He points out that only 26 of the 175 logistics centers around the world use modern robots to perform their tasks.
Consumers now have a variety of delivery options. The operation is similar to that of e-commerce in the United States: for each purchase, Amazon offers different prices and conditions (including with the postal service). Fast delivery is one of the modalities. In this first moment, it is available for some items and consumers of the metropolitan areas of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and Curitiba.
Another change concerns shipping costs: the company promises free shipping for purchases over R $ 149. It is unclear if the condition is promotional or if it will remain characteristic of the Brazilian Amazon.
The store run by Jeff Bezos accepts payments up to ten times on the credit card (no interest) or by bank bill. Acting in the conglomerate seven years ago, Szapiro revealed that the many benefits were considered a particularity of the Brazilian public. It was necessary to develop here a technology to load packages. This possibility attracted the attention of executives from abroad, who chose to repeat the formula in other countries.
