The Attorney General of Santa Catarina (MPSC) opened a civil investigation to determine the alleged irregular increase in small bills. The opening of the investigation comes after a series of consumer complaints about the amounts charged to the energy bill published this month.
Celesc (Central Schools of Santa Catarina) justifies the fact that the change occurred because of the higher energy consumption recorded during the reading period in each consumer unit.
The MPSC convened Monday a meeting between Celesc, the protection program and consumer protection of municipalities and states (Procon), to verify the measures taken to help consumers injured.
Later this afternoon, the MPSC announced its intention to send a letter requesting explanations to Celesc, which should prove that there was an increase in consumption due to high temperatures and on vacation.
If this does not happen, the MPSC can step in and perform a technical badysis to determine if there was a misunderstanding in the Celesc collection system during the period.
