The city of Muriaé released Friday (25) the result of the first rapid index of infection by Aedes aegypti (LIRAa) of 2019. The index recorded was 1.2% situation.
The figure recorded in January of this year is lower than that reported in the survey conducted in the same period last year, when the CRI was calculated at 2.9%. The index also declined compared to the last survey last year, which was 1.8%.
According to the Municipal Department of Health, the centers most affected by epidemics were the Center and Santo Antônio. This year's first LIRAa was held from January 21st to 25th.
According to the Ministry of Health, the index is considered satisfactory when it falls below 1%. alert when it is in the range of 1% to 3.9%; and indicates the risk of an epidemic when it is equal to or greater than 4%.
City Council said that 32% of the outbreaks detected in Muriaé in 2018 were in poorly disposed garbage. The executive announced the launch of the Recicla Mania project, which will be implemented in 45 municipal schools between April and October.
The aim is to educate children about the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent Aedes aegypti-mediated diseases. In addition, the initiative aims to encourage selective collection, which helps reduce mosquito outbreaks.
