The day before, firefighters were already aware of the risk of rupture of the only dam, that of the water that was in the complex. Three thousand people began to be hastily evicted from their homes to the highest peaks of the city. A raging race, with police cars circling sirens, horns on fire and a lot of tension.
The risk of dam failure has prompted the fire department to arrest the bodies of the victims themselves. The helicopters launched a rescue operation of their own men, scattered in the sea of mud.
The teams of volunteers who, back to the order given, throw themselves in the mud very early to save the animals remained prisoner since Friday in the quagmire. It hurts a lot. After much resistance, the animal guards obeyed the police and withdrew from the mud and sought a safer place.
At 3 pm, after thousands of liters of water were thrown out of the dam, about 37 hours to empty the tank – the situation is normalized. At the same time, dozens of firefighters boarded the helicopters and returned to recover the bodies. The arrival of Israeli soldiers and their sophisticated equipment, which allows to map more accurately the bodies buried by the mudslide, is expected for Sunday evening.
