Thousands of protesters marched through the streets of the capital, Caracas. They want the departure of Nicolás Maduro from the presidency and new direct elections.

Maduro took office for the second term 20 days ago. but the last elections are suspected of fraud.

The protest was convened by opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who proclaimed himself interim president of Venezuela last week. Supporters of Maduro contest the legality of this gesture.
