There were two leaks in a short period of time, prompting the company to end the service in April – earlier than expected. We now have a concrete date.
Google's support page explains how the service will be closed and, what is certain, will be a bit brutal. The site will be removed from the air and everything will be deleted. "On April 2, your Google+ account and the pages you've created will be closed and we'll start deleting consumer accounts," says the text.
Comments made via Google+ on Blogger pages and on third-party sites will also be removed. Users will have until April to download their data and save them. To do this, go to this page.
In an attempt to block Facebook, the social network has been integrated with many other Google services. Google Photos, for example, was born there. In the past, you had to have a G + account to comment on YouTube, so you have an idea. In other words, this process of euthanasia will be difficult and the company itself recognizes it.
The support page indicates that deleting the content will take a few months. "For example, some users might see parts of their Google+ account by activity log, and some mainstream Google+ content will remain visible to G Suite users," he says.
If you have something important about the dying social network, it's best to back up your content. Starting Feb. 4, it will no longer be possible to create profiles on the network and the "Sign in with Google+" button on third-party sites will not work – these pages must use the Google login button. The G + comment area will be removed from Blogger on February 4th and third party sites on March 7th.
