According to data released by Anatel, Brazil closed the year 2018 with 31.03 million active contracts in fixed broadband service. There were 2.14 million additional subscriptions during the period, which represents 7.41% of the total.
In the monthly comparison, November 2018 saw a decrease of 149,388,000 contracts compared to the same month of 2017. The number of complaints against telecommunications decreased during the period.
Claro leads the list of active users. The final figures for 2018 show that the group holds 30.15% of the total, or 9.36 million subscribers. Vivo comes in second place with 7.58 million (24.41%), followed by Oi with 5.99 million (19.31%).
Of the operators, only Claro recorded growth with 467.01 additional contracts (+ 5.25%) in 2018. Vivo and Oi recorded losses of 5.37 000 customers (-0.07%) and 309, 92 thousand (-4.92%), respectively.
Throughout the year 2018, all Brazilian states recorded growth in the fixed broadband service, with the exception of Rondônia and Roraima.
